The OptiMVD Viscometer
The OptiMVD is an automatic viscosity meter that combines viscosity and density measurement in one instrument. It is suitable for laboratories in the oil, refinery, lubricant, and chemical industries, as well as commercial testing laboratories.
This viscometer measures viscosity based on the Hagen–Poiseuille capillary principle. The sample is sent into a temperature-controlled measuring cell containing a horizontal capillary tube. Optical sensors detect the time required for the sample to flow through the tube.
Density is measured using a U-shaped tube. This allows the instrument to report both viscosity and density from the same test.
The OptiMVD uses only 5 mL of sample per test and can measure viscosity and density at the same time. Models equipped with a dual viscometer can measure dynamic viscosity and density at two different temperatures within a single test cycle. The fastest test time is approximately 10 minutes.
