Atmospheric Distillation: OptiDist 2
OptiDist 2 is the latest Automatic Atmospheric Distillation Analyzer from PAC. Built on the proven success of the OptiDist platform, with more than 5,000 installations worldwide, the new generation focuses on improving test accuracy, enhancing laboratory productivity, and meeting the latest requirements of the petroleum and petrochemical industries.
The OptiDist 2 features an upgraded distillation control system combined with Dual Optimizer Technology. This advanced system continuously monitors both sample temperature and vapor temperature throughout the test. As a result, the instrument can accurately control Initial Boiling Point (IBP) timing according to test method requirements, reducing operator-related variations and minimizing the need for retesting.
One of the key innovations of OptiDist 2 is the redesigned Thermosyphon Condenser cooling system. The patented closed-loop cooling technology operates without moving parts, reducing the number of control components, lowering maintenance requirements, and improving long-term system reliability. In addition, post-test cooling time has been reduced from approximately 15 minutes to only 5 minutes, allowing laboratories to increase sample throughput and overall testing efficiency.
To improve operational safety, OptiDist 2 is equipped with a Safety Door that helps block external UV light and provides additional protection during operation. The instrument also includes a Precondition Verification system that checks testing conditions before analysis begins, helping prevent sample preparation errors and reducing human error that may affect test results.
The instrument is designed with a modular architecture, making diagnostics and troubleshooting faster and easier. This modular design significantly reduces maintenance time and minimizes laboratory downtime, ensuring maximum instrument availability and productivity.
